CAL now providing site assessment for NI Biodiversity Checklists and Preliminary Ecological Appraisals

Canavan Associates will now be providing assessments for NI Biodiversity checklists and Preliminary Ecological Appraisals. This is a new assessment set out by NIEA to assess the potential need for further studies on sites that would not require a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

The checklist will require the assessment of designated site, priority habitats, priority species and protected species, this will assess the potential requirement of an ecological survey and ecological statement.

NIEA must be consulted if the checklist process identifies any likely impacts on nearby designated sites, sensitive habitats and/or species.

Michael McLaughlin of Canavan Associates is an accredited surveyor and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM)
